A person’s mindset should always be focused on level the odds in an attack situation. ITK covers all facets of using a knife against an assailant who is also armed with a knife.
Knives are legal to carry and easily accessible which makes the knife a very attractive weapon for criminals. If an attacker pulls a knife, you should not defend the attack with open hands if you can deploy a knife to even the odds. A skilled ITK practitioner defending against an unskilled attacker has a huge advantage in the outcome of the confrontation.
No experience in handling a knife is necessary.
