IDF Combat Readiness Courses

Austin Self Defense is proud to announce an new offering area, Israeli Defense Force (IDF) combat readiness courses as part of our Israeli Tactical Combat Maneuvers (ITCM) offerings.

Philosophy:
This course teaches the Israeli system of counter-terror warfare, as done in the Israel Defense Forces – the famed IDF. It is an aggressive system that has its philosophies deeply rooted in the idea that distance to the threat must be closed at all costs to be an effective counter terror fighting machine. The Israeli method is one that puts human ability and programmability at the top of its training priorities. Students are taught to use there natural instincts matched with motor memory to react to the stimulus and neutralize the treat. That is the way of the IDF Duvdevan unit.

Austin Self Defense(ASD) has a sincere interest in providing the most practical, modern & up to date Defensive & Offensive tactics available. These include active shooter protocols, combat first aid, land navigation, security protocols and more!

Testimonial:

On July 15th and 16th, 2011, I attended the Israeli Professional Tactical Training (IPTT) basic shooting, high risk security and, handcuffing courses. These courses were taught by Garret Machine, instructor for the IPTT program and an Austin Self Defense Master Instructor. I have 8 years of total law enforcement experience, some of which was spent in the United States Army. I have been to countless courses to better myself as a current police officer and to prepare myself for any situation I may come across.
I was highly impressed with the quality, intensity and degree of training received. I found Garret Machine to be an excellent instructor, showing you step by step what you need to learn from each drill. I found myself pulling different point from these classes and where I could apply them, not only in my profession but my life. After the basic shooting course I became a better more proficient concealed carrier. After the high risk security course I learned ways to protect a principle may it be a loved one, friend, or your partner. From all three courses I was able to take skills that I could apply during an active shooter/homicide in progress situation. I highly recommend these courses to military, police, or anyone wanting to have the upper hand in future terroristic acts.

Sincerely,

J. Cummins

Background:
We bring to you instructors from the best units inIsrael who are trained in urban warfare and in fighting terrorism. All instructors currently serve or have recently served in combat in one of the following units: Duvdevan, Yamam, The Shabac, LOTAR/707 and the Israeli Ministry of Defense. We offer only instructors who are currently serving in the IDF or have recently been released. The most up to date information and current knowledge is available through our proven system, the IDF system of LOTAR. All our instructors speak clear and accurate English and teach exactly to the letter, how it is taught inIsrael. The instructors who are teaching IPTT courses are hand picked and a select cadre of instructors. In order to be an instructor, the individual must have proven him self in battle while serving in the Israeli Special Forces.

The IDF Combat Readiness Courses are structured to serve as a guide for Civilians, Security, Law Enforcement, specialized units & Military personnel. Each course listed may have a title to the course that sounds as if it is designed towards a specific group/unit however, many of these courses can be applied to multiple groups.

Example: The “Rifle Course for Urban Operator” would be advantageous to a security professional that is protecting a high profile client but apply equally as well to a civilian living on a 2-4 acre track, farm or ranch that is protecting his family against thugs who just drove up & starting to surround the house to gain access.

Anybody interested in participating in this training will be required to 1st take the “Basic combat pistol/Israeli instinctive shooting course” and/or “Basic Rifle Course” regardless of your previous training. The Basic Pistol and Basic Rifle course is the foundation for all the other courses offered through the IPTT program as each course builds upon the methodologies taught in the basic course.

Austin Self Defensehas current plans to offer 3 courses every quarter which are typically taught Fri/Sat/Sun. Persons can pick and choose which course(s) they would like to attend however, the basic course will still be the pre-requisite to all courses. You will not be required to take the basic course more then 1X however, since this is the foundation to all the other courses, we encourage you to take this course more then once during your advancement through the curriculum.

Stay connected for new courses being offered. We only accept 12 participants per course so it is best to sign up a couple months in advance. ASD currently only accepts personal check, cashiers check & cash. ASD can conduct this training at our range out of Austin Texas or coordinate this training to be conducted at an alternate range for groups.

Additionally:
ASD offers hand-to-hand combat courses which are also vital to a person’s repertoire of skills. In a combat/self defense situation, a person may be required to fall back on hand-to-hand skills when:

  • They are caught off guard & not able to draw their weapon before 1st controlling the immediate threat through Open Hand techniques
  • A jam occurs during close proximity and the assailant closes distance before the weapon is made operable
  • A weapon is 1st pulled on the defender at close range which requires them to address the immediate and obvious threat before they are able to draw their own weapon
  • You are hired to protect a client & deployed to a country that does not allow weapons

The list of reasons to learn Open Hand techniques is endless. If you are without Hand-to-Hand combat skills, you have a very vulnerable gap in your training which could prove vital not only to your own safety but also to the person(s) you are protecting. For the true professional, ASD offers 2 Israeli Defensive Tactics Systems – Krav Maga & Haganah. Each has a different curriculum but each incorporates skills in Empty Hand techniques, defenses against a knife, blunt objects and firearm.

Concealed Carry:
Persons attending any the IDF Basic Pistol Course, will have received sufficient training to receive their concealed carry license issued by the state of Florida. Florida reciprocates with 34 states including Texas. An application packet will be available for participants that are interested.

A list of states that Texas reciprocates with can be found here.

Security pre-qualifier:
After completing any IDF Basic Pistol Course under Garret Machine, ASD will then issue the forms necessary and required by the state ofTexas for a current Security Officers annual pre-qualifier.

Security – Florida “D” & “G” license:
Persons interested in receiving their certificate in these areas may do so through ASD. Persons interested must notify us 3-months in advance so we can coordinate with Garret. This course requires 40-hours classroom & 8-hrs range time.

A certificate is issued to all participants.
