DON'T BE DISCOURAGED

  • Keep pushing On: It is important to stay focused on the benefits of the persistent training rather then the things that are holding you back from training. Traveling too much? Use the hotel mirror to practice technique and add in some ab work and pushups for cardio. Staying late at the office? Go into the conference room and Jump Rope for 5-minutes, abs, and pushups or even do lunges up the stairwell. You will be amazed at how this little bit of cardio during the day will keep you focused on your training. The key is to find 5-minutes at different points throughout the day to work on your cardio or technique so you continue to stay focused on your training while you are unable to actually attend a class.
  • Create Good Habits rather then bad habits: A good habit in training is to always find a way to get at least 1 to 2 training sessions in per week. You have to do this with conviction and without excuses. If you demand this of yourself regardless of your work week, family obligations, traveling or even mental fatigue, you will be creating a life style habit that will become a part of your everyday life and soon become a passion. A training session at home is still considered to be 1-training session so put on your workout clothes, turn off the phone, lock the door, turn off the TV and commit at least 30-minutes of non-stop training to yourself & witness how much happier you will become.
  • No Excuses: Probably the #1 excuse I hear from people is that they were doing so well in their training until something interrupted their momentum. The response is typically “I feel as if I have gone backwards and others have advanced beyond me since my lay off from training”. Work, kids, family, friends & mental fatigue will wreak havoc on your training if you allow it to do so. Everybody needs an outlet from responsibility or we would all go bonkers. If you feel great about yourself and your body, this will reflect back in a positive light to those around you. Consider your training to be an appointment that you can not break. By releasing all your stress & anxieties through your workouts, you will be a much happier person and in return a more pleasant person to be around.
  • Don’t be afraid: It does not matter what you incorporate into your life be it a job, sport or training style, it is all going to be foreign to you from the start. A new job is scary but once you learn the procedures and programs you become more comfortable. This is also true with a new training avenue. Remember, everybody started where you are now. Nobody is born programmed for all that life throws at them. Life is a learning experience and with it comes a sense of accomplishment that can be felt as well as seen. I see and hear first hand from those witnessing somebody new to a training program about how they felt the 1st time they started and how much they admire somebody willing to take the 1st step to changing their lives as they did 1-month, 5-months or even 1-year prior. People will be looking at you with admiration rather then with critical eyes as you might imagine in your mind so don’t be afraid, don’t hesitate and make your commitment today.
